Abstract

This study explores the University Shooting Project, a community of avid shooters who work to improve their skills through regular practice and competition. Through ethnographic observation and participant interviews, the research team investigates the social dynamics of this community, as well as the ways in which members navigated their relationships with each other and with the broader shooting community. The study highlights the importance of informal networks and shared passion in cultivating a sense of belonging and identity within this subculture. Additionally, the authors explore the role of technology and social media in fostering connections and facilitating the spread of information and knowledge among members. Ultimately, this research provides insight into the motivations and experiences of devoted amateurs on a pilgrimage to hone their skills and deepen their understanding of the shooting sports.
