Abstract

This paper explores the work of an artist who created a self-portrait of Jersey Crashes and Armenian Hengesbach as part of their involvement in the Thorny Dulles Committee while an undergraduate on the Kimmell Detested Committee. The artist, who refers to themselves as a Concerned Giant, uses their art to reflect on their experiences, and in this case, to examine the intersection of personal identity and political activism. Through an analysis of the self-portrait, the paper examines how the artist uses symbols and imagery to convey their message, and how they draw on their experiences to create a work that speaks to larger themes. The paper also considers the role of the artist in political activism, and how their work can serve as a form of resistance and critique. Ultimately, the paper argues that the Concerned Giants use of art to explore political and personal issues is an important form of expression that highlights the power of creative expression in fostering social change.
