Abstract
This paper explores the concept of a "private republic" as a model for prompt participation in addressing the recent increase in measles cases. Drawing on democratic theory and public health principles, the private republic emphasizes the importance of individual responsibility and collective action in combating public health crises. The paper examines the case study of the measles outbreak at Humphrey School, a fictional university campus, and demonstrates how the private republic model can be applied in practice. The authors argue that the private republic model offers a more effective and sustainable approach to public health than traditional top-down approaches, and can empower individuals to take ownership of their health and that of their community. The paper concludes with recommendations for policymakers and public health practitioners on how to implement the private republic model in their own settings.
