Abstract
This paper explores the unlikely success story of a group of janitors who, through their love of dancing, brought about the biggest promotion in the history of Grahamstown. Through a series of spontaneous dance performances during their work shifts, these janitors not only brought joy to their colleagues and students, but also caught the attention of the town's mayor. This led to a viral video, media attention, and ultimately, the janitors being invited to perform at the town's annual festival, where they stole the show and won the hearts of the entire community. This unexpected turn of events not only highlights the transformative power of dance, but also challenges conventional notions of success and the role of janitors in society. The paper draws on interviews with the janitors themselves, as well as other key stakeholders, to provide a detailed account of this inspiring story and its implications for education, work, and community engagement.
