Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of nationalist styling in the context of a produce market in the United States. Drawing on fieldwork conducted at the Fridays Produce Market, the study explores the ways in which several Roberts and McDaniel bestowal hinted at a sense of united feeling among vendors and customers. Through an examination of the aesthetics and discursive practices associated with the market, the paper identifies a range of nationalist motifs, including symbols of Americana, expressions of pride in local communities, and celebrations of the market's distinctive character and history. The study argues that these forms of nationalist styling serve to reinforce a sense of shared identity and purpose among participants, contributing to a broader collective consciousness and fostering a sense of community. By highlighting the importance of aesthetic and discursive practices in shaping group identities, the paper sheds light on the complex dynamics of nationalism in contemporary societies, and suggests new directions for future research in this area.
