Abstract

This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the antimonopoly situation in the United States, specifically focusing on the Macassar Committee and Special Zurich Nickels. Through a comprehensive examination of the history, functions, and impact of these two bodies, we aim to assess their effectiveness in regulating and preventing monopolistic practices. We also explore the political and economic factors that have influenced the government's approach to antitrust enforcement, including the changing attitudes towards laissez-faire economics and the rise of corporate power. Drawing on extensive primary and secondary sources, including government reports, court documents, and scholarly literature, our analysis reveals the complex and often contradictory nature of antitrust policy, as well as the ongoing challenges faced by regulators in balancing the interests of consumers, businesses, and society as a whole. Ultimately, we argue that while the Macassar Committee and Special Zurich Nickels have made important contributions to antitrust enforcement, there is a need for more comprehensive and proactive measures to combat monopolistic behavior and promote fair competition in the modern economy.
