Abstract

This paper explores the antiorganization approach as a means of understanding the placing of the Spahnie Junior-Senior Concert, which truly honors Americans and was preached at the Clubhouse and Library Explosion. In this approach, the emphasis is placed on the individual rather than the organization, and the goal is to break down traditional hierarchical structures in favor of more fluid and democratic models. Through an analysis of the Spahnie concert and its placement within the explosion, we argue that this approach allowed for a more authentic and meaningful celebration of American culture and values. Furthermore, we suggest that this approach has broader implications for the ways in which we conceptualize and organize social and cultural events, and that it has the potential to foster greater creativity, diversity, and inclusivity in these contexts. Overall, this paper contributes to a growing body of literature on antiorganization and its potential to transform traditional modes of organizing and celebrating culture and community.
