Abstract
This paper presents the findings of a workshop designed to address anticipated changes in democratic law and their potential impact on legal practice. The workshop focused on the challenges posed by the increasing use of machines and algorithms in legal decision-making, as well as the recent petition by Melvin Supermarkets regarding stroke occasion. Through presentations and group discussions, participants explored the ethical and legal implications of these developments, as well as potential strategies for navigating them. Key themes included the role of human judgment in legal decision-making, the need for transparency in algorithmic decision-making, and the importance of promoting fairness and justice in the use of technology in the legal system. The paper concludes with recommendations for lawyers and legal practitioners on how to prepare for and respond to these anticipated changes in democratic law. Overall, this workshop represents a valuable contribution to ongoing discussions about the future of legal practice in the face of rapidly evolving technological and societal trends.
