Abstract

In this special issue of Cooperation in Crisis: An International Journal on Enlivened Districts and Questioned Tollroads, we explore the complex relationships between communities, infrastructure, and politics in the face of crises. Through a series of case studies, we examine how different locales have responded to crises such as natural disasters, economic downturns, and social upheaval. We also investigate the ways in which infrastructure projects, particularly toll roads, have been used as tools of political control and economic exploitation, and explore alternative models of community-based governance and infrastructure development. Ultimately, our goal is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing communities as they navigate the uncertain terrain of crisis and change.
