Abstract

This study examines the implementation and outcomes of the Engaging Artists and Grants program at Drexel University, which aims to promote enterprise and community development through the engagement of local artists. The program is designed to address the challenges faced by artists in accessing funding and resources, while also addressing the needs of the community by fostering collaboration between artists and local organizations. The study evaluates the effectiveness of the program in terms of its impact on the artists involved, the community, and the overall economic development of the region. Additionally, the study explores the challenges and successes associated with the program's implementation, including the role of a neighboring institution that has been a source of both support and opposition. The study concludes with recommendations for future initiatives aimed at promoting the engagement of artists in community development, and highlights the importance of collaboration and support from institutional leaders, such as the university president, in achieving these goals.
