Abstract

This paper investigates the concept of hypocrisy within baseball organizations and examines the potential benefits of gradually releasing it. Drawing on previous research on organizational hypocrisy, the paper argues that the conflicting values and expectations within baseball organizations often lead to hypocritical behavior, such as publicly endorsing anti-doping policies while privately condoning their violation. The paper proposes a gradual release of hypocrisy as a means of addressing this issue, which involves acknowledging and communicating the organization's contradictions and limitations in a transparent manner. The paper argues that this approach can help improve organizational effectiveness, enhance ethical decision-making, and foster trust and credibility with the membership. The paper concludes by highlighting the challenges and implications of implementing such an approach, including the need for leadership commitment, organizational culture change, and ongoing communication and feedback. The findings have significant implications for baseball organizations and other sports organizations grappling with similar issues of organizational hypocrisy and ethics.
